Non-brand clicks
Sample case study for a fictional brand. Figures are illustrative, not real client results.
Problem
The store’s category pages were slow, thin and duplicated by filter URLs. Shoppers arrived on generic pages that did not help them choose, and search engines struggled to pick the right version.
Research
A crawl found thousands of parameterised URLs, field data showed poor loading on mobile, and query research revealed strong demand for buying-guide searches that the site did not answer.
Strategy
Consolidate signals into fewer, stronger category pages; make them fast; add helpful buying content; and give product pages structured data for richer search appearance.
Implementation
Lighter templates, canonical and robots rules for filters, rewritten category copy, ten buying guides, product schema and improved image delivery.
Optimization
We monitored index coverage and Core Web Vitals weekly, then tuned filters, internal links and merchandising blocks based on category-level conversion.
Outcome
In this illustrative scenario, category pages loaded faster, ranked for broader queries and converted better. Organic revenue rose as both traffic quality and conversion improved.
